Pakistan is the only country in South Asia that grows dates commercially. The annual production of dates in Pakistan is estimated to be between 550,000 to 650,000 metric tons. The country grows more than 160 varieties of dates. The most popular varieties include Aseel, Zahidi, Fasli, Maazwati, Dhakki, Kharbalian, Begum Jangi, Dagh, Goakna, Tota, Karwan, Hillavi, Khudrawi and Mozawati Gulistan, Jowansur, Lango, Sabzo, Kharuba, Karbala, and Kupro.
